MAY NEW HOMES SOLD AT NEAR-RECORD PACE

MAY NEW HOMES SOLD AT NEAR-RECORD PACE Sales of new single-family homes continued at a near-record pace in May, bumping up 2.1% to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 1.298 million units, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. This was 4.4% higher than April of last year and much less than 1% behind the all-time record pace set in October 2004. "Home builders continue to see very strong demand for new homes and are striving to meet that demand despite serious supply constraints in some parts of the country," said David Wilson, president of the National Association of Home Builders and a custom home builder from Ketchum, Idaho.
